Bird watching......

We have seen many types of birds come to our feeder this spring. So far we have enjoyed and studied:

Mourning Dove - nesting in our wisteria. Hopefully see babies soon. These guys tried it last year but something got at the nest, ate the eggs and scared off the parents. We are watching closely this year.

White Breasted Nuthatch - This bird moves headfirst (upsidedown) down trees getting at bugs and such that other birds miss climbing up the tree.

Red-winged Blackbird - not easily startled - will just sit and look at me as I get VERY close before flying off.

American Goldfinch - super cute little guy!

Blue Jay -can be nasty to other birds. House Sparrows - a whole group of them live in our wisteria year round.
Pileated Woodpecker - have heard him but haven't seen him yet. Sounds like a monkey in the jungle!!! Saw him last year. Big bird 45cm tall!
Black-capped Chickadee - you can train then to eat out of your hand!
Common Grackle - I think I might have grubs in my lawn! Hopefully they will eat them up!

Orchard Oriole
Northern Cardinal - Marbles the cat has been bothering these guys. They make a loud chirp sound when mad!

Rose -breasted Grosbeak - very beautiful!

It has been interesting noticing the different colors, sounds and the way all these birds interact.
